MEET DEBBIE

WELCOME TO MY CREATIVE SPACE

I have studied and worked in textiles since 2007. I am a graduate of the Craft and Design Textiles program at Sheridan College. My first textile love was knitting but I have grown to love so many processes throughout the years, from embroidery to felting to block printing and screen printing. In my final year at Sheridan, my thesis work was about quilting and natural dyeing, and this is still the focus of my work today.

I strive to stock my little online shop with with curated selection of sewing, knitting and crafting supplies that are conscientious and thoughtful. You will find that all the fabrics and yarns are constructed of natural fibres, with a focus on organically grown fibres. Throughout the next year, I will continue to add handmade items to the shop, and I can't wait to hear what you think of them.

Here's to more making, mending, and doing our best to live slower and more thoughtful lives.

Thank you so much for stopping by,

Debbie

SOME WAYS I LIKE TO CREATE ARE...

NATURAL DYES

I use plants, minerals, fungi (and sometimes insects!) to dye fabric and yarn. Natural dyes give a big range of beautiful and harmonious colour without the use of toxic chemicals.

SCREEN PRINTING

Fabrics that are screen printed by hand have a personal feel and unique beauty. It’s a labour intensive process, but the outcome is worth it.

WEAVING

When I discovered that my mom and her grandmother used to spin their own linen yarn and weave on an old loom, I knew I wanted to incorporate weaving into my craft practice.

POTTERY

My newest adventure in making has been learning to work with clay. It’s a whole new world for me and I’m working on developing a small collection of ceramic pieces.

PATCHWORK + QUILTING

I adore handwork because I find it to be so calming and meditative. Stitching a quilt by hand creates a beautiful heirloom quality piece that can be loved and treasured for generations.

KNITTING

My first textile love, I started knitting when I was in my teens. Although I can take longer than planned breaks between projects, every time I pick up my needles I’m in my happy place.
